In this module, we will first provide an overview of data privacy. Then, we will introduce personal data, sensitive personal data and the principles of data protection. We will also discuss the two main approaches to data privacy: privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default. We will then provide an overview of modern privacy laws. We will finish the module by highlighting the consequences for organizations for failing to comply with data privacy laws and organizations’ responsibilities to safeguard the personal data of its consumers.
